I appreciated your comment that the messiness of learning needs to be celebrated!  If only this was consistently understood by all leaders!

I am intrigued by the concept of “ethical authenticity” and curious if the Leadership Standards you reference actually include a definition for these terms?

I am always impressed with how comprehensive and thoughtful your posts are.  I am also very happy that you are so knowledgeable in other areas (ie. citation).  You are a fantastic teacher – thank you!!

That’s a great question about “ethical authenticity”; what exactly does that mean or look like in action? It is referenced in The Leadership Standards (2016, pp. 10-11) as:
    – Facilitating a collaborative process within the extended learning community to develop or foster shared values, vision and mission for the school
    – Maintaining a inclusive process for sustaining the living nature of school values, vision, and mission
    – Reflecting on the realities of a changing world and the impact or the response in the process of upholding the values, vision, and mission of the school
    – Modelling the moral courage to uphold and foster the values, vision and mission of the school.
    – Modelling ethical practice and decision making based on core values and beliefs
    – Developing and fostering protocols and processes based on a strong ethical framework (evidence, confirmation of facts, consultation before making a decision)
    – Discerning the distinction between a problem and a dilemma
    – Modelling an open and honest ethical way of encountering challenges and finding resolution through inquiry and curious dialogue

Thank you for your compliment about citation, the truth is, I have had to ask for help as it’s been a long time since I had to formally cite anything using the APA format and most of the time I have no idea if what I’m doing is correct or not! 🙂 Dr. Penfold Navarro shared this site with me and I’ve found it to be really helpful. https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/

Thank you for the additional information on ethical authenticity.

My two oldest daughters, both in university, were able to direct me to this website this last week as well. They have not had to cite blog posts, or really any electronic information so as they tried to assist me this weekend we were learning together. It is an interesting and yet rewarding experience being a university student at the same time as my adult children….
