We as in young generation usually fall behind materialistic things. As, I’m in my twenty’s I used to feel that I have to do my best, have a lot of dreams which I want to fulfill in my life and is mad about cars which is obviously a materialistic possession. I always have a thought what if I’m unable to achieve anything and grew older, I used to think that once I grow old I can be unable to do work as I’m doing with such efficiency but after reading this story I think I may not be right at this point of time thinking of such things because as a person grows old with time he gains experience and learns a lot. As mentioned by the author Browning R. in his story that ” In the rush and hurry of our overly-ambitious lives, so many of us have lost of sense of perspective. We place too much stress on material things and personal achievement. Endlessly we worry and strive, watch the passage of time with dread, fear to grow old-actually fear the best of life for which the first was made !” (as cited in Watson E. L., 1979. pg. 272).

Growing old with era is a natural process from which a person should never be feared of because old age is the moment for which you have to spend years to make best out of it. Even as a prospect of leader it is not necessary that an organisation is having the first position from the moment it was started, rather with few months, years as a company gets older, have seen many phases of even downfall can be able to achieve a better position in future which is what perfectly suits to the title of the story by Browning R. that ” Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be”. (as cited in Watson E. L., 1979. pg. 271).

References:

Watson, L.E. (1951). Light from Many Lamps.
