Thinking of rank is a situation of complete dilemma but here are some ideas I find as of importance regarding critical thinking ;

As mentioned by great philosopher Durant W. (1926)

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation: we not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather have these because we have acted rightly; “these virtues are formed in man by doing his actions”. (pg.87)

This point is essential for a leader to adopt in his life as excellence is the key to succeed in life and is clearly mentioned by training and habituation. This idea explains we usually find it difficult to adopt excellence due to our virtues and usually gets bored of doing the same things repeatedly but (Aristotle) mentioned ; “we are we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” ( Source: Unit 3 notes, Aristole (1911), The Nichomachean ethics of Aristole) which is so true as to enhance excellence.

In day to day life we used to observe how people who are working in a field are more sufficient and reliable for a job then a freshers, this is the matter of fact they have trained themselves a lot and gain an excellence towards their work, this is what a leader should incorporate in him so, as to provide the best to the organisation and the people.

2. According to Ibid

Integrity stems from honesty, but is a higher, more public form of action. When we act with integrity we are consciously making our personal values known to others. The interpersonal nature of integrity makes it a key component of leadership. (pg.77)

Integrity is the part of honesty it shouldn’t be confused with honesty rather it is moral uprightness, a person showering integrity towards organisation is the best it can do for the welfare of organisation and Integrity can be developed by many ways as according to Popov K. (2004) and Rolheiser (1995), The Pace of Grace, The Virtues of Sustainable Life ;

” Quickly and visibly admit to mistakes

Talk about values and intervene in unfair situations

Accept difficult consequences for acting with integrity

Help followers understand the difference between honesty and integrity

Find examples to discuss in the news

Share your decisions, actions, rationale when faced with a decision where integrity was required”.

Integrity is not required for the interest for organisation but for oneself also as these are the moral values and describes the characteristics of a person and the attitude of a person towards work. It is a necessary element to preserve the welfare of people under a leader and is and important part of critical thinking proving thoughts with truthfulness and honesty.

3. As described by MA LEAD student Davidson C. (Jan. 09, 2017)

“Critical transformational learning is a holistic learning practice that helps people to crawl out of their boxes, experience the space outside the box and then reconstruct their next box which in turn they will crawl out of again and repeat over and over again. I say they will reconstruct their box each time because as human beings we need boundaries to our thought, actions and emotions, and without them, we become unsure of whether anything is concrete or valid, so to feel safe we have our boxes. This is perfectly alright as long as we don’t get stuck in the same box forever. (blog post ‘designing our boxes’)

It is always necessary to give a new and fresh start from where we are and if we don’t consider our present status the goal could be a dream only as the path will not be clear as required and the steps would be faint for what to do next. So, it is necessary to always make a boundary and step wise process (designing our boxes) to proceed as once we acknowledge this we will be able to know what to do next and how to proceed further.

Learning is an essential part of transformation as without this a person comes to a dead end like a last box and unable to discover further which may be lethal to a leader’s quality. As mentioned in unit 3 notes ‘ Experiential learning can lead to wisdom if experience is accompanied by critical thinking and intentionally grounded in values and beliefs about what is good’. and wisdom is required as the quality of judgement makes a leader efficient for the leadership.

4. As mentioned in the link The virtues project

Patience is quiet hope and faith that things will turn right, we trust the process of life. we are not hasty. we do not rush or allow ourselves to be overcome by pressure. Patience helps to endure things that we cannot control with the peaceful heart.

Patience is the utmost aspect a leader adopts to be prevented from the point of saturation during the work which requires lot of self healing ability and large heart.

Image courtsey of : ( http://quotespictures.com/inner-peace-is-impossible-without-patience-wisdom-requires-patience-spiritual-growth-implies-the-mastery-of-patience/)

Patience is the key factor which a leadership is requiring, even in other aspects like learning, gaining excellence, training and in many fields it is required which makes sure to get better and as always mentioned it is always fruitful to wait for the best and this is what patience teaches us.

5. Importance of journal articles as explained by Chong (2015)

Learning to evaluate journal articles can make you a better researcher.

If you become a critical consumer of research, then you can find weaknesses in the existing literature. This is useful for interrogating one’s own work as well as the work of others. You can then pursue your projects with more confidence.

Learning to evaluate journal articles can be useful for a variety of careers.

Do we want our doctors to stop learning the moment they leave medical school? No!

We need to engage in continuous education and attempt to stay current on research that pertains to our jobs and responsibilities.

Knowledge is power and also a responsibility. Servant leaders want the best for the people they lead.

Learning to evaluate journal articles might prove useful whenever you want greater insight into your life or the world around you. (Chong (2015), How to Read Journal Articles in Social Sciences,Thousand Oak as cited in Unit 3 notes)

Learning is the activity which can never be completed and should never be stopped it is a going on process to gain more and more knowledge and to keep up with the advancement and new discoveries. Critical thinking is more based on learning activities and which is best enhanced by journal articles as they involve a detailed study about a particular topic.

Journals are a better source of information as compared to newspapers and magazines as they involve experimental proof and detailed explanation of why, how and what and tells about the result with reasons.

6.

Everyone thinks. It is our nature to do so. But much of our thinking, left to itself, is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed, or downright prejudiced. Yet, the quality of our life and that of what we produce, make, or build depends precisely on the quality of our thought. Shoddy thinking is costly, both in money and in quality of life. Excellence in thought, however, must be systematically cultivated. (source is http://www.criticalthinking.org/pages/our-conception-of-critical-thinking/411)

Thought is what we really think with integrity without any biasing like what we actually want to do in life. So, thinking should be away from any partiality of what we want rather it should be developed by critical thinking and is developed in a step wise process which is a way to prevent from the quote “Everyone thinks” as mentioned above.

Ranking to the key ideas is a bit tougher approach as nothing seems to be less important than others rather … Continue reading >Learning activity 2 : Rank-Talk-write

[5,9

post-60","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ldrs500","category-unit-3
["GET
