James “Facing and accepting a loss is the first step of managing bereavement. Only the life which deliberately picks up and starts over again is victorious” (Gilkey as cited in Eichler Watson, 1988, pg. 120). This story tells us about the most basic idea of how to accept our loss and go on with our life because anything if happens, used to happen for a reason, the thought of it being a good reason can be the one necessary element for further survival. This very idea for a leader to know and apply during leadership is essential, as there are usually many ups and downs for an organisation and even in the life of a leader but facing them with courage and with an attitude of ‘carry on’ for the benefit of organisation is necessary. A leader should never shows any difference towards his work just because of some personal problems, even if he is going through major break down. He should always react in a positive way that would convey a very good message for the workers and shows your dedication towards work. As mentioned in this story of Gilkey ” Misfortune cannot be conquered by furious and continuing resentment. It can be conquered only by quite acquiescence”. As explained by Gilkey in his story ” A self-pitying life is a doomed life. Only the life which deliberately picks up and starts over again is victorious” (Gilkey as cited in Eichler Watson, 1988, pg. 122).

This story let me know that work has nothing to do with our personal life as a lot of people are involved and sometimes, a change in your attitude can affect the workers too.
