I am very lucky to have my two parents who raised myself and my two sisters. I am a triplet and am a middle child by thirty whole seconds. I have fond memories growing up; eating supper together each night and going on camping trips. My mom is my best friend who is strong, is my supporter and my role model. I recently got married in November 2017, and I value his ability to be positive, his dedication, courage and persistence that all provide me a guiding light to revert to and to rely on.

I work in the field of Human Resources and have been within my organization for over five years. I have been in the industry nine years and view Human Resources as an opportunity to strategically partner with my business to engage, motivate and transform individuals. By having a diversified personality and having the ability to form relationships, I believe this course will allow me to learn more about being strategic.

As my PRINT report reveals; my unconscious motivators are to be strong and self-reliant (8 major) and to be special and find meaning in life (4). I find every day; I am growing as a more independent woman and I am becoming more self-reliant as well.

Throughout my leadership journey, I have identified eight core values and virtues that shape me as a person. They are; making a difference and influencing change, empathy, achievement, dependability, courage, authenticity, persistence and generosity.

I have realized my core values for myself, my friends and family and my working career share commonalities but are used in different ways. Within my group of family and friends, I am the go-to person for advice, planning events and am a shoulder to lean on. In my working career and my own personal values, I like to be the person to depend on to get things done, because it makes me feel valued.

Nonetheless, understanding my inner core values, virtues and who I am helps me understand what I need in relationships with others. I believe it is fundamental to understand what values I like and dislike and how my rewarding and challenging relationships shape my leadership abilities and strengths.

I realize, people are not perfect. People’s flaws and insecurities are what make people human and authentic to society. As I have lived 31 years of life, I have realized, I need people who encompass positive characteristics and encompass positivity and harmony. I need people to aspire me, to challenge me, to make me want to give to them and to be my true self. Knowing myself, I love to give and to help others and I value people who do the same as well.

What makes me happy and tick is surrounding myself with my family, husband and close friends who understand me. I love trying new adventures and have choosen to go out of my comfort zone lately. I went on the Revelation ride at the PNE this summer, jumped off a 32 foot tree in LDRS 502, and reached out to my organizations’ new Vice President and implemented ideas and intitaitives to engage our employees. As a result of me speaking up to him and planting my ideas, I was given the opportunity to speak in front of the senior leadership team (including him) and all of our employees and facilitated a presentation I crafted. The feeling of taking a chance and letting go of your fears is truly a rush of excitement and the feeling of “what’s next’.

One of my favorite quotes is “do not give up, the beginning is always the hardest part”.

My name is Brittany Mann and was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
