I\u2019ve already made a note to look up the book you cited, \u201cThe next generation leader: Five essentials for those who will shape the future\u201d (jsonhealer, 2018) because I absolutely loved both of the quotes that you used from it.  The simplicity of the first quote you used is great, I\u2019ve re-read it numerous times and like it more each time!  \u201cThe secret of concentration is elimination\u201d (Stanley, 2003, p. 17).  With the second quote, I have to be honest and admit that I\u2019ve never thought of being an effective leader that way.  By doing less, in certain situations, allows others to accomplish more.  I really like that concept, especially since I know at times, I have a hard time letting go of certain tasks because I want them done a certain way.  I will definitely keep that in mind moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>The second part I wanted to address is the question you posed.  So, my understanding of what you are asking is if we had to left go one of the core competencies which one would it be and why?  This is not an easy answer, as all the leadership competencies are essential elements for a leader to possess in order to be effective.  If I had to pick one I would remove planning and organization for two reasons.  For starters, the skills and foresight involved in planning and organization are very similar to visioning and strategic planing.  Second,  if all the other core competencies are developed and strong then the competency indicators and skill indicators required to meet planning and organizational needs will be met by empowering team members to develop in these areas. <\/p>\n<p>Daneen<\/p>\n<p>References<\/p>\n<p>jsonhealer.
