The learning portfolio is a powerful student-centered application for storing, organizing, reflecting and sharing items that represent you. Within the portfolio you may include documents, graphics, audio files, videos, presentations and any other digital files that reflect your own experiences inside and outside Trinity Western. You can also set your own learning goals; then follow and track your progress towards achieving those goals. You can then easily share your achievements, your knowledge, your career ready competency development and your reflections with faculty, advisors, potential employers or peers in the form of a presentation \u2013 which looks and acts like a website. You have full control over the content of your portfolio artifacts, and can customize and create as many as you like.<\/p>\n

It is important to note that portfolios are more than just a list of accomplishments.\u00a0 Organizing artifacts into a sensible order requires careful thought and a clear purpose.\u00a0 The purpose needs to be more than \u201cbecause it is a requirement for the course\u201d for portfolios to be meaningful and useful.\u00a0 Your purpose may change over time as well, and the flexibility of a digital platform allows you to easily adjust your artifacts as needed.<\/p>\n

Portfolio creation is also a process of self-growth.\u00a0 It is an exercise in reflection and critical thinking to develop a greater sense of professional identity. You’re encouraged to look back at what you’ve learned and explain how you see the knowledge you have gained from coursework being applied to your daily or future life. This kind of reflection helps to personalize the learning as well as connect the dots between your studies and your social and personal experiences.<\/p>\n

Lastly, digital portfolio creation (dubbed the “eportfolio”) is an opportunity to hone your skills in digital literacy and technical design.\u00a0 Website creation may feel like a daunting task, but through the process of making one here, you will gain this very valuable and practical skill.\u00a0 Ultimately, you will be able to showcase you and your work!<\/p>\n
