{"id":52,"date":"2018-02-11T21:08:13","date_gmt":"2018-02-12T04:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/create.twu.ca\/furtherupfurtherin\/?p=52"},"modified":"2018-02-11T21:08:13","modified_gmt":"2018-02-12T04:08:13","slug":"learning-activity-6-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/create.twu.ca\/furtherupfurtherin\/2018\/02\/11\/learning-activity-6-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning Activity 6.4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a consumer of research reports, the most important things for me in the methods and results sections of a high-quality qualitative research report are:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Appropriate research design that addresses the purpose of the study<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Appropriate method for collecting data<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Data collection is ethical and thoughtful<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The researchers establish the trustworthiness and dependability of their study by:<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Using at least three acceptable strategies to validate their findings<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Researchers identify any possible biases<\/p>\n<p>Short but sweet. I feel if a qualitative research study meets the above criteria it is likely to be reliable and could be a valuable resource if it is relevant to your research. I should note, I prefer quantitative studies over qualitative as I find qualitative to be subjective.<\/p>\n<p>Discussion question:<\/p>\n<p>Is there a way to combine quantitative and qualitative research studies that would add value to one&#8217;s research?<\/p>\n<p>References<\/p>\n<p>Chan, K.
