Cahalan, K (2017). Integrative Knowing and Practical Wisdom writes and states that In studying practical wisdom and integration in theological education for ministry, she asserts that practical wisdom is integrative knowledge that encompasses the full dimensions of human being, knowing, and acting. She identified eight ways of knowing that are essential to wise practice. I will summarily focus on three of them that I find more compelling in relation to critical thinking, I have ranked them in order of importance;<\/p>\n

  1. Practical reasoning. Cahalan states that practical reasoning is is problem-solving, forming judgments, gaining a sense of salience, and acting wisely. Wise practice demands that one has the ability to form sound judgement, to solve problems and act wisely. This is a must in every leader’s toolkit, to be able to reason practically and thereby lead effectively.<\/li>\n
  2. Conceptual understanding. Cahalan describes conceptual understanding as comprehending and remembering key information. In order to practice wisdom, It is vital to have a basic understanding of concepts and have the ability to remember them. As a leader in the making, understanding concepts helps in decision making on the leadership journey.<\/li>\n
  3. Creative insight. Cahalan says that creative insight is developing imaginative and creative responses. God created us as creative and imaginative beings. Exercising our imaginative capacities and responding creatively is part of wise practice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
