Greenleaf describes awareness as the quality within servant leaders that makes them acutely attuned and receptive to their physical, social, and political environments. Awareness encapsulates the understanding of oneself and the impact one has on others. While self-awareness in the psychodynamic approach is where a leader deepens their understanding of others and helps them to relate to society. (Bennis and Thomas,\u00a02002, p. 40) also describes it as a transformative experience through which an individual comes to a new or altered sense of identity (Northouse 2016)<\/p>\n
