I think it has something to do with how it is being perceived and the personality type of the person you are coaching. I learned that I have a few staff members who are very sensitive and take every word as an offense. I remember feeling frustrated and horrible that they were crying and all I was trying to do was give constructive criticism. A few years ago, I took the course &#8220;<em>crucial conversations<\/em>&#8221; at TWU and found it groundbreaking that there is a science to coaching people. It really helped me to understand how to better speak to and coach my employees.<\/p>\n<p>The crucial conversations model starts with getting unstuck, stop the conversations that are wasting your time going in circles. If you don\u2019t speak to your employees about the issue it will fester and it will end up being acted out instead of dealing with. In crucial conversations, they state that silence leads to violence. secondly get your story straight, separate the facts from fiction. Create a safe space where the employee knows they can talk their mind. Lastly come together with the mutual purpose of resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Kamal, have you read this book?
