I really appreciate Samson’s thoughts of cultural differences and difficulties they have to face. I moved to Canada just a few months back and for me, it is a totally new environment to settle down so early and to adopt. But as Canada constitutes a mixed bag of culture it took me less time to settle down. I worked as an administrator in a dental office where I used to approach and exposed to people of different cultures and thoughts. We have to understand them and work accordingly.

The pride of multi-ethnicity in Canada allows students like me to learn a lot and share our experiences with them. There are many situations initially when I started my job where I was unable to understand them and this communication gap begins to disappear with experience and time. My manager always taught me the best in every situation and how to handle them sensitively. Thinking from the leadership point of view as described by Atha, D.”Leadership in the design and management structure is paramount to ensure the ongoing success of the organization. Changing the design, management structure of leadership focus of the organization changes the structure and in course, the behavior of the organization and all its component parts. The process involves a great deal of commitment and focuses to get it right”. In my belief, as a part of the leader, this can be solved by giving a comfortable orientation and learning environment. As an administrator, I have to deal with insurance claims and accounts and we all know how cumbersome the process is but having a leader by my side teaching me at every step made everything very clear at each step of advancement. For development, we need to identify our own strategies to work on as described by Huges et al (2014) “Developmental drivers are closely related to individual or team development objectives, but there are usually more objectives than drivers since multiple objectives can be derived from one driver” (p. 224).

References:

Atha, D.
