I have learnt a lot from your sharing. I found two aspects which are valuable for my organization to improve communication policy and cooperation.

First, the communication between levels, departments, and employees is vitally crucial for operating organizational strategy. I believe this is what my company needs as the communication only functions on the horizontal levels. The lack of vertical communication has highly increased the possibility of conflict between lower level with the higher management level. For example, when there is a position vacancy in the company, a lot of qualified employees will prepare for it. Actually, the higher managers, sometimes, have already picked up the candidate without publicly noticing the staff on the lower level. The staff are unpleasant after the result comes out and feel cheated. The lack of information transparency is detrimental to implementing the strategic vision, and open communicating “is essential for superior in interactions with those lower in the organization” (Siyam, 2018, para 3).

Second, a tailored assessment concerning the existing level of agreement in the organization along two critical dimensions could help leaders understand the real level of cooperation and collaboration (Christensen, Marx, & Stevenson, 2006). Assessing the extent to which people agree on what they want and the extent to which people agree on cause and effect will reveal two aspects of fact: the staff’s real intent and whether they agree and align with the corporate MVV. I could try to convince my manager and initiate in our department if it is hard to implement the assessment in the entire company. Once we get the results and accordingly improve the strategies and performance, the whole company could learn from us.

Thanks again for offering these ideas to me.

References

Christensen, C.
