Tutoring with the Writing Center <\/span>has been<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>perfect position for this\u00a0<\/span>semester<\/span>, and it fell<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>into place effortlessly.\u00a0<\/span>Over the last 12 weeks<\/span>, I have been so grateful for this\u00a0<\/span>job<\/span>\u00a0and the learning opportunities it\u00a0<\/span>has\u00a0<\/span>offered<\/span>\u00a0for my\u00a0<\/span>tutoring skills and my own writing.\u00a0<\/span>I have appreciated the<\/span>\u00a0support<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0patience and opportunity for\u00a0<\/span>personal growth<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I look forward to what is to come next semester<\/span>!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Despite the overwhelmingly positive experience I have had so far, sometimes I leave sessions and feel disappointed with how they went. With some <\/span>sessions<\/span>, I feel that my communication style is not supportive for\u00a0<\/span>the student<\/span>\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span>that\u00a0<\/span>there was some other\u00a0<\/span>barrier that prevented growth<\/span>. In the future, I hope to develop more diverse teaching methods in order to best meet the needs of every student that books a session.\u00a0<\/span>My<\/span>\u00a0goal is to help them feel supported, not make them feel defeated or frustrated by the end of the session<\/span>, so it is discouraging when a student walks away\u00a0<\/span>with outstanding questions<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It has been really encouraging to work with students that book<\/span>\u00a0repeating sessions<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Developing relationships has been rewarding as\u00a0<\/span>I can\u00a0<\/span>see their writing style strengthen over time.\u00a0<\/span>I also have\u00a0<\/span>appreciated<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>my sessions<\/span>\u00a0with nursing students as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I feel\u00a0<\/span>better\u00a0<\/span>equipped to help the<\/span>m\u00a0<\/span>with issues that arise that I do with some other faculties<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>With all students, w<\/span>atching their ideas fall into place is\u00a0<\/span>rewarding for me.\u00a0<\/span>I have also loved\u00a0<\/span>brainstorming\u00a0<\/span>with students and see<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0their ideas\u00a0<\/span>develop over time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>One of my favorite parts of tutoring is helping student to think deeply and identify where their passion lies in relation to a certain topic.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In the future I would like to continue to develop a <\/span>further\u00a0<\/span>emphasis on higher order concerns in addition to focusing on the small\u00a0<\/span>details<\/span>.
