Clark will be on the Main Level of Alloway Library to provide tech support.

Last call for faculty book requests!

Dear faculty,

Since we sent out our initial email in December and our reminder in January asking for your book requests for the library, we have been happy to receive a large number of excellent selections, many of which have begun to already arrive in the library. To those who have already sent in requests, thanks! To those who have yet to do so, this is our final call for book requests, with a deadline of February 25th. Please see the details below:

  1. This offer is for each TWU faculty member, part-time or full-time.
  2. We are asking you to send us up to FIVE titles, preferably published since 2010, which would provide significant benefit to students in your particular program/areas of teaching. You may request more than five titles, but please indicate which five are most important; the remaining titles will be placed on a waitlist for purchase in future fiscal years.
  3. Please also specify the format of your requested titles. (Note that in general the library prefers electronic books but will gladly buy print titles on request or when the price difference between print and electronic formats is too great.)
  4. Requests for extremely expensive titles (e.g., more than $200) will be subject to review by library management.
  5. Requests for print textbooks will also be subject to review by library management because of the high cost and frequent editions of traditional textbooks (monographs used as textbooks are fine).

Please send your list to Ken Pearson (ken.pearson@twu.cain Library Acquisitions by Monday, February 25th. Since items must be ordered and received before the end of the current fiscal year (30 April 2019) and funds are limited, the earlier you send us your recommendations the greater chance that they will be promptly purchased. (Requests received after February 25th may be held for purchase in the next fiscal year.)

Thanks so much for your part in selecting current books which will help shape the library’s collection and enhance the ongoing research and information requirements of our students.

We got doggies for LNAP!

We are very pleased to announce that we will have at least 3 dogs in the library for the Long Night Against Procrastination on Monday, February 25. Lucy and Pippin will be in the library between 6:45- 7:45PM and Arnold will be available for snuggles from 8-9PM

Pippin, on the left, is 18 months old. Lucy, on the right, is 3.5 years old. Pippin is  rambunctious and good with people. Lucy is much calmer. Both dogs will be glad to see you in the library on February 25th.

Pippin and Lucy are Labradoodles   who live with Professor Heather Meyerhoff (she calls them her “fur babies.”)  They have been cleared by the Animal Care Committee to be on campus with students.

Arnold is a puggle who lives with Melinda Dewsbury and her family.  She says “Arnold would absolutely love to visit with students. He is a very social dog and hugs everyone! He is not hyper but very silly.”

We know that spending time with dogs in the library was a huge hit with students at the fall LNAP, So, when you get back from Reading Break, be sure to spend some de-stress time on the main level of Alloway Library with Pippin and Lucy early in the evening at the Long Night Against Procrastination, February 25.
