\n<\/strong>Imre Lakatos was a\u00a0Hungarian philosopher of mathematics and science (1922-1974). This volume reflects the range of his interests in mathematics, logic, politics and especially in the history and methodology of the sciences.<\/p>\n

Grounding for the metaphysics of morals ; with, On a supposed right to lie because of philanthropic concerns<\/a> \/Immanuel Kant ; translated by James W. Ellington.
\n<\/strong>This third edition includes Ellington\u2019s translation of Kant\u2019s essay \u201cOf a Supposed Right to Lie Because of Philanthropic Concerns\u201d in which Kant replies to one of the standard objections to his moral theory as presented in the main text: that it requires us to tell the truth even in the face of disastrous consequences.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Reprint of the 1923 third revised edition outlining the history of engraving and etching.<\/p>\n

\"\"Immortality, resurrection, and the age of the universe : a kabbalistic view<\/a> \/by Aryeh Kaplan ; with an appendix, Derush or ha-hayyim by Israel Lipschitz, translated and annotated by Yaakov Elman.
\n<\/strong>This volume examines provocative insights on the concepts of the Jewish and Kabbalistic view of immortality, resurrection of the dead, the age of the universe, and astrology. The book also includes a translation of Rabbi Israel Lipschitz’ 1845 article on resurrection, which deals in part with the paleontological discoveries of the first half of the nineteenth century.<\/p>\n

Mary Magdalen : myth and metaphor<\/a> \/Susan Haskins.
\n<\/strong>The book emphasizes how each history has fashioned and represented Mary Magdalen according to its own specific interests and desires. In particular, Haskins shows, the Western Church has used its images of Mary Magdalen to justify and perpetuate the subordinate position of women.<\/p>\n

\"\"Parting visions : uses and meanings of pre-death, psychic, and spiritual experiences<\/a> \/Melvin Morse with Paul Perry ; with an introduction by Betty J. Eadie.
\n<\/strong>This book examines the significance of premonitions, angelic encounters, mystical experiences, and deathbed visions, and explains how such visions empower both the dying and the living.<\/p>\n

Probability and Hume’s inductive scepticism<\/a> \/D. C. Stove.
\n<\/strong>A classic work, this book discusses probability and David Hume’s inductive scepticism. For the sceptical view which he took of inductive inference, Hume only ever gave one argument. That argument is the sole subject-matter of this book.<\/p>\n
