Augustine’s City of God: a reader’s guide<\/a> \/Gerard O’Daly. <\/strong>The City of God<\/em>, written in the aftermath of the Gothic sack of Rome in AD 410, is the most influential of Augustine’s works, having played a decisive role in the formation of the Christian West. O’Daly’s book is the most comprehensive modern guide to it in any language.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0C.S. Lewis and the Christian<\/a> worldview \/Michael L. Peterson. <\/strong>Peterson develops a comprehensive, coherent framework for understanding Lewis’s Christian worldview-from his arguments from reason, morality, and desire to his ideas about Incarnation, Trinity, and Atonement. Williams. <\/strong>This book offers a presentation of Christian apologetic literature from the second century to the fifth century, taking each writer within the intellectual context of the day. The book argues that most apologies were not directed at a pagan readership. In most cases, ancient apologetics had a double object: to instruct the Christian and persuade weak Christians or non-Christians who were sympathetic to Christian claims. Taken cumulatively, it finds, apologetic literature was integral to the formation of the Christian identity in the Roman world.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0Faithful to science: the role of science in religion<\/a> \/Andrew Steane. <\/strong>This book describes the combination of science and religious faith from the perspective of one who finds that they link together productively and creatively.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0Love all: a comedy of manners, together with Busman’s honeymoon : a detective comedy<\/a> \/ by Dorothy L. Sayers and Muriel St. Clare Byrne ; [both] edited by Alzina Stone Dale. \u00a0<\/strong>When Lord Peter and his bride arrive at their honeymoon cottage in the country, everything seems perfect. Stackhouse, Jr. <\/strong>This book answers a basic question: When a Christian wants to consider a matter in a way that is fully responsible to her Christian commitments, what is she to do? Revelation: toward a Christian theology of God’s self-revelation<\/a> \/Gerald O’Collins. <\/strong>A study of the central themes of the theology of revelation, whereas other works often focus on the history of reflection on revelation.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0The evolution of atheism: the politics of a modern movement<\/a> \/Stephen LeDrew. <\/strong>This is a study of contemporary organised atheism as a fundamentally political phenomenon that is internally divided on ideological grounds, positioning atheism as one ideology and identity marker within the broad network of organisations collectively constituting the secular movement. This movement, which has existed since the nineteenth century, came to life in the early twenty-first century with the emergence of the New Atheism, an aggressive assault on religion led by thinkers such as Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens.<\/p>\n

Alleman ; foreword by George Marsden. <\/strong>Explores the responses of more than 2,300 Christian professors from 48 different institutions across North America to find out how \u00a0(and should) being a Christian change one’s teaching<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0Theology and the anthropology of Christian life<\/a> \/Joel Robbins. <\/strong>A major reconsideration of important aspects of anthropological theory through theological categories and a series of careful readings of influential theologians such as Moltmann, Pannenberg, Jungel, and Dalferth informed by rich ethnographic accounts of the lives of Christians from around the world. Robbins draws on contemporary discussions of secularism to interrogate the secular foundations of anthropology and suggests that the differences between anthropology and theology surrounding this topic can provide a foundation for transformative dialogue between them, rather than being an obstacle to it.
