Why wouldn’t I take in the beauty of God’s surroundings like other people do when they’re walking? Growing up in constant comparison to others, striving for perfection “not good enough, not skinny enough, not tough enough, not smart enough” I would have been critical of my walk. But through life’s long lesson of wisdom, God’s call on my life and learning to love who He’s created me to be, I have learned it is in these walks when I hear from Him. It’s in these walks I reflect upon my choices, actions and the day in such a way that the stature of my walk becomes straighter even though I continue to look upon the ground. The earth He created. The foundation built strong enough to allow me to endure life’s long lessons. The ability He has given me to place one foot in front of the other. And as I look behind me, I see others who have followed. Not because I was in front of the class, the boardroom or at the top of the organizational chart. But because my steps, despite the falls, I eventually chose to follow Him.

What goes on in my silent walk as I pass my sister’s home? It is always a conversation with Jesus – my leader. Who loves me, who has brought me to this place in my life. Through the bruises, through the hurts and through the temptations to deviate. You know the Footsteps in the Sand story? It really is not my stature that sets the example, rather it is the fact that I need to be carried – in order to lead.

My sister, a rather gregarious, loud, humorous woman, observed me walking past her home one day. “Leesa – you always walk with your head down – why aren’t you taking in the beauty of what’s around you – the people,… Continue Reading →

["post-10","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
