We are therefore required to keep abreast of the changes in order to keep our lives and business afloat. The technological pace is also increasing with the development of smaller devices and the need to connect people and data.

Large organizations like Walmart and the postal services have responded well by first adapting to the change and using technology to drive their business (Smart, 2015)

We have seen both positives and negatives come forth from the implementation and use of technology. Smart, (2015) suggest we have to measure the ability of our organization. This he argues against the TINA trends model, which was developed by Pierre Wack. The system is used to look at developmental trends in a complex system and for areas which he considers not irreversible. These measurement looks at the outcome whether they are positive or negative.

Some of the positives outlined about technologies are

Nanoscience and nanotech technology which is where we have technology being pulled into smaller pieces to drive the world.

Information technologies look more at the algorithm and brain like-learning (smart 2015), which enhances our ability to gather details. We are looking at the use of the internet, the ability to share information – pics, music. etc

Engineering Technologies – looks at the use of technology to develop the infrastructure around us

Resource Technologies – look at how we use our natural resources to keep our lives moving. This can be seen with the development of natural gas from natural resources around us.

Cognitive Technology – where technology is used to affect the way we learn. Through this process, we have things like augmented reality or the wristwatch.

The Positives mentioned above is the overarching categories of technology that we interface with on a day to day basis or through our lifetime, which is used to enhance our lives. However, there are negatives that come from using these technologies. Some of the negatives are:

Isolation:

Isolation happens as people become more engaged with the technology and less with connecting relationally.

Lack of Social Boundaries:

In the same way, persons share openly on social media, it is the very reason we end up with a lack of social boundaries (Hosale, 2013), where the world is able to intervene in our space.

Automation and Loss of Jobs

Our city is driven by machines which automate and dematerialized as noted by Smart (2015) and we struggle to connect people to farming as machines take over the basic everyday task. In essence, the automation process is good for increase productivity but it means we lose people carrying out even the very mundane task which is operated by machines.

Would you do anything differently with the use of technology and its implementation

I am not sure what I would have done differently to enhance or to stop the flow of technology through our society as this is the reality that I’m a part of. However, with that said, the large organizations are using the technology to drive business and to provide solutions. As such my primary focus would be to ensure there are proper legislative processes to protect our world of which we are all a part of. Jack Ma (2016), reminds us to think for yourself and to make the move/action” and never to stop dreaming as dreaming is the key to our realities. These realities have caused us to make significant changes to our world and while technology may have its negative is has significantly increased the level of efficiency in how we live and interface with the world. It is through trial and error that we have gone ahead to create cultures, programs, and systems driven by the technology

###Reference

E-learning. (2016, June 23).
