{"id":242,"date":"2020-07-11T18:17:20","date_gmt":"2020-07-11T18:17:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fukasawa-template.trubox.ca\/?page_id=242"},"modified":"2020-09-01T18:57:11","modified_gmt":"2020-09-01T18:57:11","slug":"purpose-and-audience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/create.twu.ca\/portfolio-hope\/2020\/07\/11\/purpose-and-audience\/","title":{"rendered":"Purpose and Audience"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ePortfolio should accurately communicate who you are and cohesively represent what you have learned (or are learning).\u00a0 In order to do this, you need to start with your purpose <span id=\"eb533887-495b-412a-adae-2a2f9210fb50\" class=\"abt-citation\" data-items=\"[&quot;276936522&quot;]\">\u200b(Boesch et al., 2015)\u200b<\/span>.\u00a0 Consider:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Why are you creating an ePortfolio?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>What are your intended goals or outcomes for your ePortfolio?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>What is the key message you want to convey?<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The answers to these questions will guide you as you curate and <a href=\"https:\/\/create.twu.ca\/portfolio-hope\/2020\/07\/10\/reflection\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"195\">reflect<\/a>.\u00a0 If you are creating an ePortfolio for a specific course or program, a good starting place would be taking the course learning outcomes or assignment criteria and personalizing it.\u00a0 Personalization is important because ePortfolios are meant to be \u201can archive of one\u2019s work, achievements, ideas, thoughts and feelings which reflect an individual\u2019s intellectual, emotional and social developments- in essence they are a document of an individual\u2019s learning over time\u201d <span id=\"aa0e0053-9704-475c-98c8-70650705936f\" class=\"abt-citation\" data-items=\"[&quot;3602437483&quot;]\">\u200b(Light, n.d.)\u200b<\/span>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose can also be the summative element, like a theme, that ties all your <a href=\"https:\/\/create.twu.ca\/portfolio-hope\/2020\/06\/17\/artifacts\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"246\">artifacts<\/a> together.\u00a0 When your goals or intentions are stated clearly on the home page, your audience will better understand what you are trying to showcase and how the organizational structure of your ePortfolio works.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another important aspect to consider at the beginning is your audience.\u00a0 Determining who your audience is allows you to select the appropriate voice to use, and it allows you to consider their perspective as they view your ePortfolio.\u00a0 This does not explicitly need to be stated anywhere on your site, but you should be cognizant of it as you begin to write your reflections.\u00a0 It should also relate to your purpose.\u00a0 For example, if you are creating an ePortfolio for future employment or potential employers, then be sure to use professional language, whereas if you are creating an ePortfolio for self-exploration, then you have the freedom to use much more casual language.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 100px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">References<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<section class=\"wp-block-abt-bibliography abt-bibliography\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Bibliography\">\r\n<ol class=\"abt-bibliography__body\" data-hangingindent=\"true\" data-linespacing=\"2\">\r\n<li id=\"276936522\">\r\n<div class=\"csl-entry\">Boesch, B., Reynolds, C., &amp; Patton, J.
