And I can find a lot of ways to be helpful because many students struggle with reading comprehension and writing.<\/td><td>I like feeling like my role is meaningful and the kids like me. It&#8217;s fun. I remember in previous practicums I would find myself struggling to find ways to take initiative because there was not as much need for me. The students seemed satisfied to work alone.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>They had a 1-minute exercise break when they were getting restless.<\/td><td>This was great for helping them focus again and get a chance to chatter, rather than having to hold their energy in and get in trouble for interrupting.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>I got cold so could not go out to lunch for long.<\/td><td>I learned that it would be good for me to bring warm clothes so I can be flexible with this and go outside if the opportunity arises.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>She asked &#8220;what does it mean to be a Canadian citizen?&#8221; and told the story of how her husband became a Canadian. She asked questions that a lot of kids got curious about.<\/td><td>This brought the kids to connect with the teacher and see how she is a person. It also brings personal stories into the lesson, which relates to First Nations Principles of Learning.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Observations Reflections Students are familiar with me and like chatting with me!
