Response to implementing a service-oriented culture by Ruiz Rivera unit 6 response

Hi Ruiz. I am from Vancouver myself and worked many years on the downtown east side. Reading your post reminded me of my work down there. I worked very closely with some social housing clients and coordinators. I know it can be stressful moving from a very structured culture regarding what you can offer clientele to a service model. In my experience, there are so many factors when changing the culture to consider. Have thought of creating a roadmap? In my job whenever we change something, we prepare what we call a roadmap. It’s like the first draft of potential steps you would take to go about changing policy or procedure. We use roadmaps as our preplanning phase.

Have you considered reaching out to some of the non-profits in the city who serve these tenants as well? Possibly building a partnership with them and looking at their service model. I’ve found in my work it helps to utilize coalitions with other agencies in the same field. I know in home support it is helpful for us to share ideas for improvement and different strategies for ongoing issues with others working in the same field.
