Unit 8

is unit you will consider the particular role and challenges faced by women in leadership. You will read about the complex path to leadership for women and consider·the research concerning gender and leadership styles, the obstacles encountered and how leaders can work towards leveling the playing field for men and women.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit students will be able to:

  • Synthesize generally what research says about how human behavior differs for men and women.

  • Define the obstacles encountered by women leaders.

  • Describe how leaders can level the playing field so that both women and men can have equal opportunities to make meaningful contributions in leadership.
