Hello all – here is the intro I have on my courses – I’m repurposing it for this introductory post. I would also like to invite you to my ‘real’ WordPress site. The purpose is two-fold – to be intentional about reflective practice and to keep in touch with students and colleagues. I’m looking forward to learning through this Orientation course how to better manage my site. Right now I just kind of know the basics but it’s a learning journey and I’m on it!
Adrienne Castellon holds a Doctorate of Education from Simon Fraser University and a Master’s degree with a concentration in Special Education. Over the past twenty-five years she has been a secondary teacher, elementary principal, education consultant and university instructor in Canada and internationally. Dr. Castellon is the Stream Director of Educational in the Masters of Leadership and teaches in the program as well. She enjoys teaching in the School of Education and stays current in the K-12 system through consulting and school-related projects. She is involved in a number of parish ministries at her parish of St. Nicholas and lives in Fort Langley with her daughter who is a first year student at TWU.
That’s my standard bio – just wanted to add that I’m excited about teaching you and know you’ll enjoy and benefit greatly from your MA LEAD journey. I hope you’ll get a lot out of the learning model of the cohort – hearing leadership issues from different paradigms is really enriching. My background is education, among us will be business leaders, health leaders, theologians and philosophers. We will be able to have wonderful discussions and then go out and do our part to lead positive, ethical and effective change to make a difference in our world. This is a critical pedagogical orientation that views education as a vehicle for social change. In the MA LEAD program we view Leadership as a means to an end – your ‘ends’ or desired results will all be different but it’s all connected to who you are, what you value and your worldview. We’ll unpack this more during the course and enjoy learning more about and from each other.
