Introduction

Hello everyone. My name is Dominic Shonhiwa a Zimbabwean who’s lived in UK for the past 16 years.

I graduated from Birmingham City University UK with a BSc in computer networks specializing in Cisco networks. I have worked for 2 telecoms companies, (Ericsson and Vodafone UK) for a total of 5 years as a network engineer.

I currently live in Langley BC with my wife Sally and our two kids Nissi 6 and Samuel 4. We came over to Canada in this year (2018) for my studies and stayed with friends in Chilliwack before moving closer to the Langley campus this July just in time for the face-to-face classes.

Through a recommendation by a friend, I enrolled on the MA Lead program for the summer of 2018 starting this past July with ldrs500, and 591 in face-to-face classes and now have 3 courses on my plate i.e. 501, 504 and 697/8. I have heard many good things about this course from different people who have either been on the course or have benefited from a graduate from the course. It has been an exciting journey thus far, especially after the Birkman assessment which gave me an inward look of who I am in relation to my environment.

At the end of the MA Lead program, I hope to have developed a firm foundation on which to build transformational servant leadership qualities as I embark on a journey into project management leading into business through entrepreneurship.

I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and thus have been inspired from a young age to pursue business and self-employment. As a born-again Christian, I drew even more inspiration from the preached word from the Bible, self-help books and being mentored by my role models. These factors have helped in developing my desire for business, entrepreneurship and project management.

While I am a good team player with good communication skills, I am very competitive and enjoy winning, however I can still handle loss well if I don’t win.

I am still a work-in-progress when it comes to planning and organizing.

I am looking forward to leaning as much as is on offer from this course to become relevant to the business arena I aspire to become a part of.
