Tinayu, this unit shows a growing ability to create structure and volume. Please read the instructions more carefully. You are missing the point of some of these drawings.
Day 1 Multiple marks, good start although you are barely scratching the surface of this technique. It asks you to your pencil/hand like a windshield wiper on your car. Be much bolder! Place the marks in certain areas precisely, but keep your hand moving quickly making really, staccato-like marks–many quick short flicking marks that build up to create the form.
Day 2 this is the beginnings of a really beautiful sensitive drawing. Following the planes and topography of the face with patches of hatching is working very well here. Use more closure, more white of the page, less line and build up more layers
Day 3 Gestural Tone explicitly directs you to use tone in the negative spaces. You are smudging smooth tone here, not using gestural tone or loose patches of tone. Please re-read the directions and redo.
Day 4 Energizing Tone is a beautiful start, you are getting the underlying structure of the face very well here, but again, please reread the instructions and either start another drawing, being clear about experimenting with very energized manic marks, aiming for porous edges, or continue working on this adding more layers.
Day 5 please reread the instructions, set up a strong side light and redo this, following the topography of the light flowing over the form.
