Managers are the persons who know how to run an organization in the best possible way and have to think about a lot of things to run it efficiently, not only about the profit but also about other aspects too. As described in the article by Wang, G., Oh, I. S., Courtright, S. H., & Colbert, A. E. (2011). Transformational Leadership and Performance Across Criteria and Levels: A meta-analytic review of 25 years of research. Indeed a manager has many implications, many duties and holds a lot of responsibilities of which some of them are described below :
- Individual follower job performance – This is indeed a necessity in a medical field to check every individual’s work performance. This could be helpful for the acknowledgment of whether a patient is being treated well by the assigned doctor or need some change.
- Team performance – It is the manager who holds up a team together, assigned them their work and clarify them the goals of their work, In our field of dentistry there is a lot of staff working as a team including a dentist, an assistant and administrative staff. If the work of any of them get disrupted and not done on time regarding a patient, it will affect patient too. So, to look after a team performance is necessary.
- Motivates followers to work hard – Always keep helping and motivating workers to work hard, this not only help in achieving the goal but also performance beyond expectation leads to high levels of creativity too which leads to innovation and this is what a kind of lateral thinking and is required in dental set up too.
- Variance in individual task performance – A leader is the one who can make sure to specify everyone’s work they need to do. This is often used in a medical set up where every staff is suggested and specified their work and is responsible for a smooth running of an organisation.

Ethics in a leadership as stated in Northouse (2016) “In regard to leadership, ethics is concerned with what leaders do and who leaders are. It has to do with the nature of leaders’ behavior, and with their virtuousness. In any decision-making situation, ethical issues are either implicitly or explicitly involved. The choices leaders make and how they respond in a given circumstance are informed and directed by their ethics” (pg. 330). Ethics is leader shows towards an employee. As mentioned in Northouse (2016) There are basic five principles of ethical leadership which are:
Respect –According to me this is the most important principle of ethical leadership. Every individual in an organisation must respect other one, whether they are working at a lower rank. A lot of individuals are connected to an organisation through their work. So, always respect the work they do even if it is cleaning, sweeping or doing any tough jobs. A leader should not have anyone favorite in an organisation rather treat everyone equally irrespective of their position in the company. 
Honesty – The second most important is honesty. It is very much important to be called a trustworthy person. As mentioned in the Northouse (2016) “But being honest is not just about telling the truth. It has to do with being open with others and representing reality as fully and completely as possible. This is not an easy task, however, because there are times when telling the complete truth can be destructive or counterproductive. The challenge for leaders is to strike a balance between being open and candid while monitoring what is appropriate to disclose in a particular situation” (pg. 345). This is the fact that once a trust is lost, once a lie is being caught one can never build the same trust again rather it takes ages to build the same. So, honesty is the best policy required for any of the organisation.

Service – It is necessary to serve others well. In a medical field it is necessary to serve for the beneficence of others. As mentioned in Northouse (2016) by Beauchamp & Childress, (1994) “In a general way, beneficence asserts that providers have a duty to help others pursue their own legitimate interests and goals” (pg. 342).
Justice – It should be a motto of every leader to treat everyone with fairness and justice. According to Northouse (2016) ” When resources and rewards or punishments are distributed to employees, the leader plays a major role. The rules that are used and how they are applied say a great deal about whether the leader is concerned about justice and how he or she approaches issues of fairness” (pg. 344). This explains a leader has many situations where biasing can be made but a leader who takes a decision without any biasing is the one called a justice leader.
Community – Building up a community is an important task for a better team performance and greater outcomes by the organization which can be achieved by a good leader.
