Business and Non-for-Profit: LDRS 501
My name is Emmanuel. I am husband to Eleni and Dad to Shaka and Malaika (4 years & 5 month old).

I am originally from Cameroon Africa. I have lived in Canada for the past 14 years both in Montreal and the Fraser Valley (BC); East Langley as Dr Atha loves to say.
My educational background includes a BA is in Psychology specifically in Caregiving and Counselling, a diploma in Biblical Studies, and a Certificate in Life Coaching.
I worked as a program manager with Communitas Supportive Care for 4 years in BC, While also being the Head Coach of the Capilano University Men Volleyball. I enjoy travelling, politic, music, biking, and inspirational movies. I am taking this program to further my skills in Leadership and contribute to the growth of others.
Strategic Leadership
Four years ago, I took the lead in the Men Volleyball Program at Capilano University. I was asked to rebuild it in three years to a championship program. My first Strategic action was to buy three copies of a book called How to Build and Sustain Championship Culture by Jeff Janssen. I kept one copy and gave the two others to my team captains. From the resource, we develop a vision for the program, a mission statement, a set of values, and guiding principles. We also established short-term and long-term goals.
At the end of our first year, the team finished the season second from the bottom, seven players in the roster, and four players decided to leave, three of them because of the culture. The second year, we recruited eight first-year students who corresponded to our desired profile. We finished second from the bottom again, but with more wins, and 11 players. All of them decided to come back. The third year, we were the youngest team in the league, but we finished second from the top, with 15 players and a 2.80 team GPA, with four players above 4.0, and a total of 8 players above 3.0.
The link below gives you an Idea of the state of the program when I decided to leave.

Hi Emmanuel
Thanks for sharing about your journey on of leadership. Where many would have given up you soldiered on with a strategic approach and you saw the results and everyone benefited from your persistence. I noticed that you have a wealth of knowledge and are ready to give for the good of others and I applaud you for that. It has been such a great pleasure to meet, walk and work with you on this path into leadership.
Emmanuel,
I truly feel that I can call you “bro” knowing that you and I have shared our hearts as brothers in Christ. I felt very priveleged being asked by you to share my experience and perspective as a father as this has been my most important job in life, right after my faith in Christ and being the best husband I can be to Marci!!!
Thanks for sharing your journey with the Men’s Volleyball Team at Capilano. Your vision, strategic leadership, and persistence are inspiring and depict that man that you are at home, work, in the MA Lead Program, and to your church and community.
I am really looking foward to working through LDRS 501 with you over the next 10 weeks.
