The Journey – My Intro

Well an Introduction is not something that I normally like to do in formal writing, but here goes an attempt at telling you all about me.
I was born and raised in the Island of Jamaica. One of the very best places on the earth. Trus mi boy dis is the bes place pon di planet. Well if you just read that you have just read Patios, our local dialect.
Now back to meeting me. I am a proud husband because my wife chose me over 12 years ago to share life with her. We have two wonderful sons – one that is 8 yrs. and the other 19 months. I have worked in banking, Information Technology, pastoral, and counseling,
We moved to Calgary, Alberta a year ago from the busy life of Toronto to take up new opportunities and also for me to slow down. My life was just too busy doing ministry, community activities, family etc.
I am an Ordained pastor with the Church of God with our main office being in Cleveland Tennessee. I have the opportunity to pastor both in Jamaica and Toronto. I am currently between assignment as my time just now is being used to help replant a church in Calgary. I thought that I came out here to just rest and relax with family and get to see the mountains, hills and valley of the beautiful place. I guess the reward for work is more work
There are many scriptures that guide me, but Gal 6:1 Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, lest you too be tempted.” This is one I try to live by. Whatever the fault we should restore him or her in a spirit of Gentleness. (love)
When I am not pastoring I love to be around my computer or with my family. I’m fascinated with the vast amount of inventions being developed daily to enhance life using technology.
Leadership has always been something that fascinated me. At an early age we were asked to do book reviews and presented on it in church. Smith Wigglesworth and John Maxwell became my friend through the pages of their book. There are others but these guys gripped me.
Doing this course is preparation for the next phase of my life’s work. John Maxwell said that leadership is all about influence. I seek to honed my craft and become the Leader that God has intended me to be. There is a lot of room for growth. So during this course I look forward to iron sharpening iron to become a well developed tool.

Thanks for the investment in life, ministry and family (not necessarily in that order) Jason. Your bring a unique Carrib-anadian perspective to the course and the class. I think it will be an exciting time as you interact with your teams and add to the learning all around.
One of my profs at Regent and a former Dean of Leadership at Regent University in Virginia beach taught at the Church ogf God college in Cleveland Tennessee.
Thanks for being you!

Hey Jason, Wha Gwaan?. (How are you?). I was reaching out to you via Chat at our first Zoom meeting. I heard the accent and asked if you were from Jamaica. Now I know. I am also from the beautiful Island of Jamaica. I arrived in Langley, BC on December 16, 2017, along with my husband and 10 year old son. They are accompanying me for the duration of the course. I am projected to finish by June 2018. Strategic Leadership is my 6th course in the programme.
