Response to James – Light from Many Lamp week 6
Who has served as a hero to you through their character and integrity?
This is a good question James, as I have often asked myself this question time and time again. You see, in today’s world, it has become an increasingly important question to be asked. Maxwell (1999), suggest character is more than talk (pg. 4). We have the opportunity every time we make a choice to create our character – so whether you, “cop-out or dig out of a hard situation, to bend the truth or stand under the weight of it, to take the easy money or pay the price” (Maxwell, 1999, pg. 4-5). We are building our character.
So as I look around I see individuals, but would not call them my hero. I would more so see them as individuals who have made an impact on my life. The reason for this is, we have our private and public lives. And they differ in how we relate to individuals from time to time as persons become guarded with who they are. According to an online post from Independent website about psychological tricks to make people like you immediately, Lebowitz (2017), suggested, “we must reveal our flaws from time to time. This is called the Pratfall effect”.
There are a number of senior pastors, community leaders, elders of the church that has impacted my life.
