Response to Daneen
I took the time to reflect on your post and found it so truthful. Life feels so rush at times and more often than we would want it to be. Stanley (2003), cited Dr. Howard Hendricks who made the statement, “the secret of concentration is elimination” (pg. 17). This has been one of the things I have been trying to practice since I read this quote about 2 years ago. It is a process seeing we have established norms which require a lot of work to undo.
In order for us to be effective leaders require that we limit things that will limit our effectiveness. “The less you do, the more you accomplish and the less you do, the more you allow others to accomplish” (Stanley, 2003, pg. 17). What is required of us is to identify the areas that we believe we can use to add value to our organization (pg. 21) using skills that no one else may have. The challenge we are faced with is stepping away from our core competencies which results in us not being effective.
If we are to assess our lives and make the adjustment which one thing would we remove and why?
