Look forward to: Being with older students and English classes because they are connected to my teachable subjects and and the grades I want to teach. It gives me a wider perspective on what education looks with various age-levels.

Nervous about: Older students could be intimidating. They would likely be less likely to be excited to see me than the young students were at past practicums. They can also see through my nervousness and if they want to, they could push back on that and possibly be disrespectful. It really depends on the class though.

SMART Goals

  1. Arrive 15 minutes early to the school each week so I can be prepared, professional, peaceful, and have margin for if anything goes wrong.
  2. Get to know one student each week by asking questions about them or their work.
  3. Send lesson plans to the mentor teacher at least three days in advance for feedback.
