Light from many lamps

There is a story mentioned in  ‘Light From Many Lamps’ of Watson E. L.(1979) by Payne H. J. ‘Mid Pleasures and Places Though We May Roam, But It Ever be So Humble, There’s No place like home’.(as cited in Watson E. L., 1979. pg. 252).

This very story is close to my heart and revolves around every individual living away from home because of some reasons. It may be for education, work or any other reasons. But all of them have the same feeling that one day they will be able to go home and live with their family. As mentioned in this story by Pliny “Home is where the heart is”.(pg. 256)

I’m living away from home for 6 years from now for my education but the only thing I realize is that my heart pounds with joy whenever I visited home during holidays or during any occasion. In all these years I came to know that everything needs to be balanced, through this I mean that you can’t give preference to just one thing either money, success or even family only. You need to divide time to balance all these which is what leadership demands.

Whenever I talked to parents I usually found a gesture and a small chat at the end of every conversation about when are you planning to visit home which takes my soul and breath. Sometimes, I feel like I should leave everything and start living with my parents which is not at all possible because of survival we have to go beyond and make our future. During my initial days away from home, I used to visit regularly which got reduced later on but after some time, I realized it is not a way to give importance just a single subject in the chapter of life but to maintain a proper balance between every chapter and read everyone out.

This very chapter of my life which has just started by coming in a totally different area and leaving home country is exciting and sometimes, haunting too but all my years during hostel life I learned to divide my time and keep a balance in which I kept time to talk to my parents and my friends and taking care of my work and also giving time to myself. This management is of utmost importance while leading an organization efficiently and this very attitude cannot be inherent rather came with experience in life which improves as we gain more exposure to the environment around us through more experience. There is a quote which explains it all as mentioned in the story of Payne H. J. ‘Mid Pleasures and Places Though We May Roam, But It Ever be So Humble, There’s No place like home’ by Kipling R. that

“God gives all men all earth to love,

But since man’s heart is small,

Ordains for each one spot should prove

Beloved over all”. (as cited in Watson E. L., 1979. pg. 257).
