Messing Up Zoom

Self Reflection

So far, this piece has interesting mark-making and risk-taking. I am choosing to leave the bottom let white peep through, which isn’t usually done, and there are intriguing beads of black water that shot when I squirted the surface with a spray bottle. There are also droplets of water falling down the painting.

(With the final project, I am using two Zoom figures and have them interact with each other.)

I need to improve the professionalism and concept of this painting. It should be more professionally completed and a better quality image should have been taken. Also, I have a vision for the appearance of this painting but haven’t decided on an overall concept of potential meaning. Brainstorming this further will improve my piece.

    Side note!
I started adding this accidentally on your P3

What is the first thing you notice about this painting?
My eyes scan from the dark part of the painting to the bare spots on the canvas.
What is your point of entry? What about this painting is inviting you in?
Immediately, I see the dark section of the painting (left to right top) and then my eyes noticed the drips.

What part of the painting is shouting the loudest? What part is the quietest? Does this relationship feel right? How would you like to see this altered?
The two loudest parts are the solid dark section on the left top and the dripping splatter on the right middle. It would be interesting to see this splatter emphasized to balance the visual relationship. Obviously, there will be some more added to this painting but yeah, I would 1. use your strengths with color & 2. balance the darks and lights.

What obstacles are hindering your engagement with the painting?
The brush strokes counter the way that the painting drips so visually my eyes go all over (in a cross-like formation) Id like to see some more cohesiveness in movement.

Is the painting communicating anything to you? If no, why not? If yes, what?
This painting seems really dark, if this is the concept/theory go for it! If not, go ahead and add more!
