Thank you for sharing your thoughts about FedEx company, and regard to your question: What are the key traits or abilities of a leader which can contribute to the ability of foresight in your opinion?

Referring to the question and the quote that I excerpted from your post, “According to Malgeri’s (2010) definition about foresight which “can be considered a behavioural inclination, referring to an individual’s tendency to devote a significant amount of time engaged in thought or activities concerning the future” (para. 1).”

I think, and by looking to keywords “tendency to devote a significant amount of time engaged in thought,” where it links to knowledge, experience, and the outcome is skilled. Thinking of “activities concerning the future,” it links to increase awareness to surroundings. Regarding foresight, foresight encompasses within servant leader’s ability to know the future. So, its ability to predict based on what is occurring in the present and what has happened in the past (Northouse, 2016). The ability of a leader to be a visionary (Northouse, 2016) for the organization, always relates to the knowledge and strength of solving problem, learn from failures, and considering the environment that influences any decisions- I think- it will enable the leaders to predict the future.

Sir William Osler: Live For The Day Using Day Tight Compartments

Thank you for sharing your thoughts that I learned from them.

Thinking about negative issues is passive, and we can feel as if things are happening to us – or even become more passive and wait for others to rescue us. But when we begin to take action, we empower ourselves. We need to be able to “live in day-tight compartments” and separate any negative experiences to be able to transform our lives and model the experience to others. Thinking positively, when taking action, sustain the positive change regarding building a strong foundation for the future.

In life, its useful to seal today off from the future and the past and trust our plan, and don’t put regret of the past on repeat by trying to go to our bottom and work up to our life’s purpose. I think Dr. Osler allowed for the rare backward and forward life examination, but he holds to the habitual daily rumination on past and future wouldn’t be helpful to live productively. Otherwise, it will be no resilience or blessing for our growth.

Regarding your post, one of the most significant challenges women are currently facing is equality in the workplace. The advice for women leaders everywhere is to go for what they want in their careers and not to give up. Hone the skills necessary to give them the opportunity they need to be able to navigate the labyrinth of leadership; which can be through communication skills, leadership development, speak up and be heard.

Building women community through sisterhood and garnering support from other women and empower each other, which can be by starting with our selves’ values, moral, and integrity. Be humbled, show togetherness and passion, excellence and enthusiasm towards our foundation for our progress through our work. Communicate with confidence and clear guideline and be relentless in any preparation. Make our presence known as a leader and collaborate for good.

A Leader in leadership journey can be a CEO of an organization or a first-year employee who leads his or her team to success behind the scenes. They might lead through official authority and power or might lead through inspiration and connection. Both, they create an inspiring vision of the future, they motivate and inspire people to engage with that vision.

Leadership is a dynamic process require managing the delivery with great communication skill. Creating a vision, leaders should focus on the strength of their organization and followers; so, people can see, feel, understand, and embrace.

To present leadership style, I believe I need to have an evidence-based approach that can motivate and inspire my team with the ability to articulate the shared vision as a servant leader.  Good leaders deliberately create challenging results by enlisting the help of others.

Do you think ethical leadership in Canada is higher than most countries?

I believe being diplomatic, ethical and tolerant may set Canada on the top of the list. These components are essential when it counts on ethical leadership; however, research on this topic will help the case. Canada is a diverse country that applies diversity in many aspects at different levels. When leaders consider transparency, accessibility, and willingness to collaborate as a style of leadership, it shows the value and the moral of Canadian leader[s].

Canadian heritage has a standard of ethics; when Canadian conduct themselves in accordance to the following values of the public sectors and as expected behaviors as well:

  1. Respect for democracy
  2. Respect people
  3. Integrity
  4. Stewardship
  5. Excellence
  6. Official language
  7. Diversity

Responsibility begins with each of us and builds an excellent reputation for the organization in mind and spirit for all Canadians. Also, considering the focus of Canadian leaders on climate change, women’s rights, and equality, that will bring a new era on Canadian history compared to the past. Definitely, like many other Canadians, I will promote ethical leadership approach to all aspects of my life and endeavor.

I appreciate sharing your thoughts!

Faith, Hope, and Love

I do see a lot of valuable insights in these words and I do believe they have to be combined. Faith is something that we exert; we put an effort to have, some energy and conscious intention. Hope is evidence of life-where there is life always there is hope. Love is a truly healing force and transformational force that can reverses centuries of wrongdoing.

We are often lost if we think of our performance, our ability, our approval from others, but we can fix the sights by looking into humanity collectively.  Faith, hope, and love are like an operational element to our lives; we use them to engage and interact with others. They are the personal fulfillment, and the gift of power given to the human being and they can go far and greater. I believe these words are the magic words rooted in the personality of a great leader, a leader who knows how to lead.  Definitely, we need to convey these words to our precious people, people who we value.

Lastly, I would like to share with you  “With malice toward none, with charity for all’,  Abraham Lincoln 1865

Light From Many Lamps: Failure is the Staying Down Rather Than the Falling Down

I like your story Layla, “We cannot change or restart our experience, but we can make a turn when we reach the dead end.” We all experience turns in life, some of them good and some them of them bad. When we have to face the bad ones, we have the choice, stuck or turn around it. We are all wired and ingrained to go around it. Personally, the present is what matters to me; I have the choice to change and do better. I would do baby steps and small wins until I start to build momentum. So, preparing the mind to change the course, and making commitment and devotion to keep the present.
